WTT Final Video
Now Available
Hi Finalists,
Something I was unaware of during the staging of the show is that Phil from www.Media55.co.uk was filming the show as part of “The Grand Memories” project, 115 years of the Grand Theatre.
Phil thought the show was so good he recorded it all, in full using two high definition camcorders, and has offered to make a dvd of the show in it’s entirety available to you. The cost of the dvd will be £15 each. You can order as many copies as you like, or indeed you don’t have to have one. Phil realises that the groups may like to have one copy each, so has offered them the chance to buy multiple copies of 5 or more at a discounted price of £10 each.
A reason nothing has been heard about the pictures is that shortly after letting you know I was going to offer you a free copy of all the pictures Phil contacted me about the dvd. Phil and I are going to work together and produce a twin dvd set. You will have the video on one disc and the stills on another in the same presentation case. You pay Media55 for your video dvd and still receive your pictures for free.
If you are not wanting to order the video, then please let me know as you’ll still get your free dvd with the pictures on.
Wolverhampton’s Top Talent is not selling the dvd’s, but Phil has said that if he sells more than he needs to sell to cover his costs, which are remarkably low in comparison to the amount of work being put in, he will split the profits with Promise Dreams.
You can order by email, phone 01902 829304 or letter and you can pay by:
cheque, made out to P G Brown at

Just a couple of items to be aware of. It is very unlikely any of the judges comments will be included on the video. Your after performance chat with Dickie Dodd will be included. Our special guests and reserves, Laura and Katie are included in the video. Transit Trix, the portion of your dance where you used no light and glow sticks has recorded very poorly and may have to be left out. It will be properly edited and if Phil can get something out of the recording he will include it.

WTT FINALISTS DNA are off to Las Vegas
The 2009 Midlands Hip Hop Dance Champions DNA are preparing to head to Las Vegas July 24th to compete in the World Hip Hop Crew Championships.
The group whose members are from Telford and Wolverhampton won the Midlands competition allowing them to compete in the UK National Final in London back in March. They took bronze in the Varsity category and have been working hard towards raising money and creating their next routine for the Las Vegas based competition.
“We have qualified every year since 2005 to compete in Las Vegas and that is every hip hop dancers dream to represent the UK at this competition. The other teams who come from all over the world are the best of the best and to know that you are considered part of that elite group of dancers is an honour. We go there, learn and better ourselves for next time.” Dee said today.
Other teams going out to Las Vegas are the Adult crew winners Peridot and runners up Toyboxx and they will face the dance crews that have been recently seen on MTV show “America’s Next Best Dance Crew”. The judges at the World Championships are all well-known top choreographers from the dance scene and this year attending and teaching and judging will be Shane Sparks from the film You Got Served and Marty Kudelka who is Justin Timberlake’s choreographer.
“Currently DNA are looking for acts to join them at their own fundraising event on the 10th July at the HLC in Telford to raise money for the trip to Las Vegas. We would welcome anyone who would like the chance to perform to an audience of 150 people, it’s an opportunity to help DNA reach their goal and a chance to showcase their talent to another audience.” Dee added
DNA choreographer Dee Spencer said if anyone would like to join in and help or just come and watch the event please contact her on 07751 611218
FINAL
16 acts will be taking part in the final.
Two Acts will be invited to come as reserves in case of any problems with any of the qualifying acts.
All acts from both heats, scoring over a certain points total, will be taken foward to a meeting of the judging panel only.
This panel will then work out the top scoring acts from the various categories, such as solo vocalist, bands, variety, dancers etc.
News of the finalists will be given on The Wolf 107.7 on Monday the 15th between 8 and 8.30am.
Following this the results will be available on the web-site.
On Thursday 18th June from 2pm onwards we will invite our Finalists to a Familiarisation session at the Grand, run by Ian Griffiths. This is to allow them to see the dressing rooms, backstage and main stage areas and ask any questions they may have about the venue. Also they will be able to talk to Ian about their act and outline any special requirements (e.g. props). It is NOT an opportunity to rehearse. They will be invited to go round in pairs, each session expected to last about 30 mins.
On the final day itself, we will have the theatre from 2pm to 6pm for setting up and rehearsals. Theatre will then close and re-open from 7pm until 11pm.
Wolverhampton’s Top Talent Resuscitates Featherstone Fundraiser
It’s normally the Community First Responders (CFR) who are on the end of emergency call outs, but on Thursday 23rd April the tables were turned on them and they had to put out a call to the community they serve so well for help.
Thursday night was to be one of the big fundraising nights of the year. A Take That tribute band was booked to entertain the community. On Wednesday night a call was received to say they weren’t coming. A devastating blow, with a hall full of people due in less than 24 hours.
CFR event organisers, dialled “999” and asked if the villagers could help. In no time at all local DJ’s Fully Loaded, offered their services free and arranged for local residents Mark and Vince – Half Tenn – to sing.
Village Agent, Graham Hughes, had spent the evening before volunteering at a Wolverhampton’s Top Talent heat and put out SOS calls to some of the auditionees, could they help save our night.
Yes they could, as soon as solo rock singer Sophie Caldwell and Girls Aloud Tribute band “Spice Aloud” heard that we had been let down they offered their services. As both acts were either at school or work they picked up the messages at 5pm but by 7pm they were in the Featherstone and Hilton Community Centre ready to perform, again both acts performed totally free of charge!!!!!
The evening was a great success; the audience was rocking and dancing all night long, begging for more.
The event raised nearly £600 and added to this Becky and Stef from Featherstone Youth For Change, the local Youth Forum, presented £100, proceeds from DVD sales of the popular Featherstone’s Got Talent show.
Sam Bate ended the night by saying “As a totally voluntary group all fundraising to keep the service running is done locally, its nights like this when the community pull together and show us how much we mean to them that makes all our hard work worthwhile. It was a shame that some of the responders missed part of the performance, but we aim to be on call 24/7, so when we are needed we drop everything and go, lives can depend on it and we received a call midway through the show.
We would like to thank everyone who took part, as audience and artists.”
Here's Sophie performing in her audition at the Mander Centre.
Tickets are now on sale for the semifinals: 18th - 19th June 2009 and the finals on 20th June 2009 at The Grand Theatre Wolverhampton
Worried that you may fluff your lines, forget the right notes to play or your equipment fails you - well don't be - see Lionel Ritchie in concert at the NEC having trouble with his piano here. He also forgot the words to the first 6 or so lines of another really popular song. If the best of the best can have problems, don't you worry. It's the way you handle it that counts, just keep going professionally and you won't get marked down for it!!!
